2026 Ins and Outs...
+ my most liked note this year!
Oh hey! Happy new year, happy holidays and happy back to school for those who celebrate. I was so sad to send my kids to school on Monday, because I get so used to them just being around and not having to rush anywhere or make lunches…but on Sunday, my daughter played in her underwear all day and I don’t think my son lifted his face from a screen - the monkeys were running the zoo. It was TIME. I think everyone benefits from a little more structure and being forced to get dressed!
I know not everyone agrees, but I love setting goals and resolutions in the new year and I love seeing other people’s goals! I actually do the same thing around my birthday! A couple of my friends and I aim to meet each week and talk about what we’re working on, what we’re manifesting and just helping each other in any way we can and everyone leaves the conversation more motivated. Here’s what I’m leaving behind and bringing into the new year…
Bringing in:
walking, walking and more walking - specifically after every meal. Do I need a walking pad?
more TV! I feel like television and movies today are more like art and less “kill your TV” bumper sticker.
more books… always, more books.
more writing in general and writing this newsletter weekly! I said it!
second-hand shopping. I’ve been working on scouring the resale sites, before I add to cart and I’m going to start sharing some of my finds here. I’ve been hyperfocused on luxury bags lately.
my grandmother’s brooches.
HRT and saffron for perimenopause.
thrifting art and home decor.
selling more on Poshmark.
reworking clothes I have! (See below.)
more OOTD pics!
my Dennis Gross new red light mask and more self-care in general.
dressing up sweats. I’m obsessed with my Le Bon Shoppe sweats and I’ve been wearing them with blazers, leather bombers, loafers, etc. Comfort, baby.
Retiring:
Buying clothes for myself on Amazon and Target - It rarely works out.
all day snacking.
dehydration (feels like a full time job for me!)
jeans that are too tight.
revenge bedtime procrastination - sleep is paramount!
staying in my pilates clothes all day.
beach waves (lately I’m more into smooth blowouts using my new Mane hot brush!)
contacts - save for the rare occasion, I actually really love my glasses as an accessory and my eyes are so much happier. (I also just got these on Postmark and I’m going to put lenses in them! I’m excited!)
buying cheap iterations of the “thing”, instead of just buying fewer, better items.
My most liked note on here was in early December when I posted a pair of old Gap pants to which I (my mom) sewed in fringe! It started when I saw these pants by Simon Miller and I fell hard, but for me, they’re pretty impractical… I mean, can they even be laundered? (Also, don’t think for a second, I’m not still searching for these on TRR.)
I don’t know about you, but when everyone and their sister was raving about the High Sport pant, I definitely got interested. (In fact, one of my very first Substacks was about finding less expensive versions of these!) Needless to say, I ended up with several pair of black kick flare pants in my closet that rarely see the light of day, so I took the pair I like the least and with fringe I found on Etsy for next to nothing, we attached it to the inside hem.
LET ME TELL YOU… I get SO many compliments when I wear these that I wore them to nearly every holiday gathering I attended. There’s something so cool about taking a pair of pants that I just didn’t get around to donating and turning them into my favorite thing to put on! Next up… I thrifted a vintage wool navy blazer and I love how it fits, but the sleeves are a tad too short - - I’m thinking gold fringe at the cuff!!?
I hope your new year is off to a grand start and I’d love to hear what you’re leaving behind and focusing on in 2026!
Be well and well-dressed,
Krissy

The fringe pants story is such a perfect example of creativity over consumption, sentiment over trend, and the confidence that comes from wearing something no one else has. Honestly, the gold fringe cuff idea sounds iconic already. Thank you for sharing this so generously – it felt like sitting across from a friend who leaves you calmer, more motivated, and slightly more excited to get dressed tomorrow!
The fringe pants! oh my! I love that you repurposed something you were over and ended up with something so fabulous!
