Justine Lupe's hair!
+ two new ways I've been using my notes app.
Hey you!
I won’t be the 2000th person to tell you to watch Nobody Wants This (but if you haven’t, what are you doing with your life?!). To nobody’s surprise, it was announced yesterday that it’s being renewed for a 2nd season!! Which is a *glimmer* for me! As a long-time major fan of all three Foster sisters AND someone who used to hold OC viewing parties, it was TV perfection for me. One of the real stars of the show though, imo, was Morgan’s hair. Who else went straight to their salon with her picture last week? Just me? Here are three tips/items straight from my hair stylist to achieve that bouncy blowout:
My stylist sent me home with this blowout product by Kerastase and so far, I’m into it. It allegedly reactivates when you use your hot tools and I have to admit, my blowout lasted a lot longer this past week after using it.
I’m obsessed with using this brush to blowdry and smooth everything down and then I use one of these large velcro rollers for my bang area, blast it with some heat and just let it sit as long as I can, while I do my makeup and curl the rest of my hair.
When I’m doing beach waves, I’m curling mostly away from my face or alternating directions and leaving the ends out and straight. My stylist said for the more polished “Morgan” look I’m trying to achieve, I should curl the very front pieces away from my face and curl the rest toward my face, so they kind of frame the neck. It’s more demure, if you will.
Okay, I generally feel like the notes app is a little archaic, but I suppose it gets the job done and I’ve recently been using it in two new-to-me ways.
Meal planning!
I’m on a text chain with two of my besties and they text each week with what they plan on making each night for dinner. They typically shop once and completely eliminate that “what the hell do I make tonight?” predicament that I find myself in nearly every night around 5. I’m also notorious for saving recipes on instagram or taking a screenshot and then never looking at them again.
Enter: This Week in Food. I’m taking meal planning a step further and sending the recipes straight to my note, so I’m not searching around and trying to figure out where I saved it. Now, let’s see if I can actually stick with it. I’m making this Creamy Chicken Gnocchi soup tonight by Well Seasoned Studio, it’s definitely a crowd pleaser.
All Good Things
Have you heard about the concept of “glimmers”? Basically it’s the opposite of triggers and Geri Hirsch sums it up perfectly here. I read her newsletter yesterday and it came at a perfect time (a glimmer, maybe?!). It sort of gave a name to what I’ve been doing lately which is keeping an ongoing note with little things that I’m grateful for. Whether it’s getting a really great haircut or the shoes I ordered off the Real Real fitting perfectly or my son getting the teacher I was hoping he’d get. This is nothing groundbreaking, but in my experience, the more gratitude you show and the more you acknowledge the good things around you, the more good things you attract. Try it and lmk what you think!
That’s it for now.. Hope all good things happen for you today!
Be well and well-dressed,
Krissy

I love using notes…I have one of “things I like” that I’m constantly adding too and also have my kids use it for birthday/Christmas wish list and they add links that they share with me.
Yay on meal planning…finally!!!
Love the hair!!
